At the time of their introduction in 2006, the automotive waterproof electrical connectors were considered to be a very significant innovation that would be a game-changer for the automotive industry.

It turns out the automotive waterproof electrical connectors were actually already in use by 2008. What most people seem to know about these connectors is that they had a problem of having to be cleaned a lot more often than other types of connectors. In particular, they were prone to leakage, and so when they were connected to the wrong terminal, they would leak out. But the automotive waterproof electrical connectors were actually a lot more durable than these other types of connectors.

Copper was the type of conductor used in the connectors, so this type of circuit is known as a double copper circuit. A lot of people like to use them when their electrical power system is a big, breakerless system.

However, when you go through a home that used to be on a double copper circuit, it is now a single copper circuit. This is most common in houses that were built before 1978 and have a lot of copper wire running into the wall. Copper is a conductor of electricity, so if you have copper wire running into the wall, then when you use a single copper connector, you’re sending electricity through the wall.
