Well, I just recently got my first electrical job. This is a job I’ve been dreading for a long time, it involves an electrical company and I’ve been trying to get it going since December. So far I’ve been getting it up and running but the last two weeks I’ve noticed a few problems.
I went to my local electrical company today and they had a big sign on the wall that said “we’re here to fix your problem.” But I have some major issues with this company.
The first one is the sign itself. I noticed it at the window of the building that I have been doing this job at. It looks like a giant X with a big X over it. This is what electrical companies call a ‘punch list.’ Whenever there is something wrong with your electrical system, they will punch out all the wires and the outlets. The punch list also contains a bunch of other information like what kind of outlet is in use, how many amps are available, etc.
Well, apparently it’s not all that bad. At least as long as you don’t punch up a wall or something, and if you do punch up a wall, they won’t come in and cut your phone lines. The other problem I have with this company is that they never tell you what is wrong with your wiring. You have to go to the power company and ask them what is wrong.
Oh and that doesn’t even begin to get into the fact that you might need to replace a lot of your wiring with a much much more powerful and efficient type of wiring, like a copper cable. Which means more money, of course.
I thought I would have a little fun with this one. I thought I would use the word “copper” above instead of “cable,” but hey, that’s just me.
The fact is that wiring is one of the most important parts of any electrical installation. As simple as it might seem at first, it is a major part of a house’s electrical system, and a lot of people are willing to sacrifice quality of life (and money) to have it done right. In fact, it’s one of the most expensive parts in any electrical installation. You can see this for yourself by simply looking at the price tag.
This is my favorite part of any electrical installation, and this part also affects the quality of life of a large number of people. If you are installing a wire to a new home that will be your first time, you are probably going to want to use wire of some sort. A standard electrical box is pretty cheap to build, but it is a standard box for most homes. If you build your own box from 1×2’s and 1/16’s of 0.
In fact, all electrical boxes are constructed the exact same way. In this process, you make the exact same size box for all four sides, then cut the four boxes of 0.
