This is not a new thing. I have used round electrical cover plates for almost as long as I can remember. I remember being in college in the early 1990s when I got to use one of these plates. It was used for a huge power line and would have been able to cover a lot of land.
It was really neat. It was also really cheap and it was basically a plastic sheet that you could use to cover an electrical line. But it would have been easy to lose. There were a few accidents back then that caused them to go out and then get damaged in some way. I guess this kind of electrical cover plate is still all the rage in the US, but it’s nowhere near as easy to use as it was in the 90s.
I wonder why, but the new round plates are basically the same as the old, but they’re only 20 cents more expensive. I’m not sure if that was because they’re supposed to be cheaper or because they’re not as good. I guess the problem is that you have to buy a bunch of them and then find a way to put them on with a socket in an electrical box, which makes them a bit of a pain to put together and take apart.
I have a problem with the fact that theyre 20 cents more expensive. If you go to a store and ask for a round plate that’s cheaper than you can get in a store, they’ll probably say that you are getting it at a lower price because you’re buying them online. I mean seriously, what is wrong with this world? That means that we need more shopping malls and malls and more malls.
I’m not saying that you should go for the cheaper price only because they’re online. I’m saying that because they’re cheaper, they should be treated like the regular plated plates. I’m a big fan of the way that plating the plates on the outside makes the interior of your box look a bit nicer. It’s like the old times when you used to have to go buy a plated plate for the inside of your kitchen cabinet.
Well, it’s not like we’re getting a new look for our old plated plates either. What the developers have done is make the inside plates “darker” by coating them with a thin layer of conductive paint. This gives the new plates a bit of a “rustic” look (like you might find on a medieval village door) while making them much less prone to damage and corrosion.
I’m sure the developers must be aware of how much damage that paint can do to the inside of your cabinets, or else they probably wouldn’t be trying to coat them with a paint that isn’t conductive. But in any case, the new plates look quite nice. I’m hoping that they will be able to get the same look on our new boxes in the future.
I have to say I like the look of the plates. I wonder if it is because the new boxes are aluminum, or if it is due to the fact that they are being made with the electro conductive paint. It is not yet clear if the latter is the case, but it is definitely a possibility.
You can’t really get the conductive paint to come off of the aluminum plates. I don’t know if that is because the paint is too viscous or because the aluminum is too conductive. It would be nice to see you can with the new boxes, but I guess we’ll have to wait to see.
Since I don’t have a new box to use for these reviews, I am using the old ones. It is a very tedious process, but I am pretty happy with the results. In order to get rid of the paint, I have to spray a layer of clear lacquer on top of the aluminum. Once that is dry, I then have to wait for a couple of hours then reapply a layer of lacquer and finish with a coat of clear lacquer.
